Queensland State Archives Watercolour Paintings
The Queensland State Archives issued a call to artists for an exhibition of the history of the Old Windmill on Spring Hill Brisbane. I entered a proposal of 4 paintings of which 3 were accepted.
The brief was “What I’ve seen: stories from the Windmill” is Brisbane’s history revolving around the Windmill and a short video where a number of potential stories have been identified. The exhibition is open to different formats and mediums identifying with the stories.
In my proposal, I offered
- a contemporary watercolour and mixed media rendition of a historical photograph of the Windmill;
- a contemporary watercolour and mixed media rendition of the Windmill today viewed from Bartley Street and showing Brisbane city in the background; and
- a contemporary watercolour and mixed media rendition of a set of convict manacles.
Once complete, the paintings were professionally framed and delivered to the client to meet the deadline.
